Talked to Chris who told me he and a few others have led that climb on gear, so my fantasies of a first ascent are out the window on that one.

Went back again yesterday, here's a shot of one of the crossings. Nothing that goes over the rand of the boot.

We spent some time working on the hand crack in the shield. Anyone have any beta for this? I did more handjamming than tool torquing to dog my way up. Got one or two decent reverse steinpulls, but this one flummoxed us.

Rusty Meyer lead the right crack on gear several years ago.

Access back to Ripple is slow going but is possible. Fell through important bridge on the way out but there is another option. AstroTurf is in! No real snow so the bottom is run out but the runnel is full enough and as always a ton of fun. Everything else is in including Cham Ripple.

Got all the way back to Boones Farm without too much trouble today. There was significant overflow on the river this evening so the river should be fairly solid in the near future. Astroturf is indeed in and fun right now so go get on it! Be nice to the tree at the top though...

Spent the afternoon climbing on Ripple and TJ Swan, both climbs are in great however, TJ is really plastic ice so its a good fight to get up it with all the ice breaking off and makes for a fun lead. With the condition of the ice and the route I took I would say its in as a WI4 right now. Ripple is in good and the ice is in awesome condition and its a classic fun route. Astroturf and Cham Ripple look good but the climbers on Cham said its really plastic as well.

On another note the river is great and it took me no more than 35min from car to Ripple taking the ridge and dropping in at the fork in the river, after the fork the river is easy going with no really bad areas. Good luck and Climb On!!!!

Ran a few laps in the Canyon today on Cham and Ripple. Ripple is still really good but melting fast and a little than at the top of the 60m. Cham is in rough shape but still a good climb but the top curtain is more like snow cone ice. The river is still great and easy going. Get it before it melts and Climb On!!!
